Education

I hold a Master's Degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University. I am licensed in Connecticut as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Clinical Experience

I have been working in the behavioral health field since 2012 and have worked in all levels of care available from outpatient to psychiatric inpatient units. I have held positions as a case manager, clinical coordinator, primary clinician, and clinical director. The various populations I have worked with includes individuals in the criminal justice system, adolescents with substance use disorders, chronically mentally ill individuals, individuals in crisis, and those with co-occurring disorders. My depth of experience in this field allows me to navigate complex clients and family systems as a behavioral health consultant and make informed and collaborative decisions with a family or their loved one on available options in the community.

My Personal Background

I am passionate about working with the underdogs because I was once that person. Once upon a time, I was the person who was hopeless, lost, and cycling in and out of jail, rehabs, homelessness, and did not see a way out. I always had dreams of helping people and becoming a social worker, but was not able to accomplish that goal until I dealt with my own 'stuff' first. My wayward path I took only increased my understanding of people's suffering. My life experiences and professional accomplishments combined allow me to reach people in ways others cannot.

While my knowledge base in the mental health systems of care is rooted in my own experiences, my professional skills guide my work with individuals and families. I have worked in all levels of care from hospital inpatient units to outpatient services, so I am able to provide education to others about what services may fit their needs. My expertise lies in helping individuals and families in crisis make difficult decisions about their care and recovery.
